Great article and I concur 100%.

For 11 years I worked as a consultant specializing in recovering, rebaselining or closing down late projects across a plethora of markets. Educating senior and executive management why adding resource to a late project increases duration and team complexities and less gets done.

I think many senior managers and executives think of software development in the same context as manufacturing widgets and moving them off of this paridigm is one of the biggest challenges for PMs.
